Reuters have now picked up on the story CLICK HERE

A brief quote:

Reuters wrote:Scientists who have examined the cup have said it almost certainly dates from many centuries after the crucifixion, and is not made of the olive wood that might have been expected for a Middle Eastern drinking vessel.

Douglas B Hague was a surveyor and architect by training, he was not a qualified scientist.

Who were the mysterious scientists who examined the Nanteos Cup? NAME ONE.

In the only report we have, Hague refused to name a single one of them.

Nanteos mansion will be featured in the new series of Forbidden History on the Yesterday Channel
on November 12th at 9pm (and repeated several times thereafter I dare say).

Another internet error... from HERE

For the less mystically inclined, the famed “Nanteos Cup” has been carbon-dated to the fourteenth century.

The Nanteos Cup has never been Radio carbon-dated. All Chinese whispers.

I saw the Forbidden History programme via the "on demand" on the website. The section on the Nanteos Cup is, sadly riddled with errors and not worth pursuing.

Just noticed at 20:47 that they show a book which is actually a reproduction of the "Grail Diary" from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade  . You can see a few moments earlier that a photograph of the Cup is pasted onto the right-hand page. At the top left is a reference to Marcus Brodie, a character from the movie. At 18:03 they talk about some "Thomas Steadman" but they actually show a portrait of W.T.R. Powell who lived in the 19th Century.

Debra Kelly on ListVerse:

The cup has been dated to the medieval era, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the legends.

Dated when? Dated how? Dated by whom? Where are the specifics?

As far as I know, the only known dating of the Nanteos Cup has come in the form of opinion from various
antiquarians and historians, and what is this opinion based on?

Regardless of what experts have said about dating the vessel, belief is still a very, very powerful thing.

To date, all I've seen in the various reports and commentaries are bland, sweeping statements concerning
anonymous "experts" conducting unspecified "dating" methods on the Nanteos Cup, and the only thing I've ever found
about this is a report by an "expert" which basically adds nothing at all to my knowledge except the possibility
that the Cup may be made of wych elm (see previous post) based on nothing more than a subjective visual examination.

But believing in this notion of "experts have spoken" with zero knowledge of the specifics is a supreme act of faith.

Griff Rhys Jones visited Aberystwyth as part of his Great Welsh Adventure series. This was shown on ITV in February last year, a few months before the Nanteos Cup was stolen.

from "The White House - notes by Miss Purser" CLICK HERE for link.

Until recently, what remains of that blackened olive wood up has been kept at
Nantoes - now many seek in vain; may it soon be restored to the only rightful place for its
keeping, Glastonbury Abbey, from whence it came.

An interesting statement - especially in light of recent events!

However, there is no reason to suppose that the Nanteos Cup ever came from Glastonbury.

from In Search of the Holy Grail and the Precious Blood: A Travellers' Guide by Deike Begg, page 6:

"... but there is currently a move afoot to have the Nanteos Cup returned to Glastonbury..."

Also an interesting statement. What kind of "move" I wonder? By whom?
