Sept 08 - The Buzz - "Astrological" pubs

Further to this, there is some interesting information on the website for the Garway Moon:

It is likely that there has been an Inn at some location in Garway since the arrival of the Knights Templar

and also...

the ‘Half Moon’ as a name has interesting connections with Garway’s Templar history given that crusaders shields often bore the charge of a ‘crescent’, popularly changed to the ‘half moon’ as time went on.

A bit tricky this. We don't know which, if any, of the four pubs had a Templar connection, if any. Second, not all crusaders were Templars and there may have been no connection in any case.

What does your dowsing tell you?

Mordiford (mentioned in my Sun-line article) has a pub called the Moon. Llangollen has pubs called the Sun and the Star.

from Reuters:

Belgium experiments with mystical "full moon" beer

Full moons are often associated with tides, insanity and creatures like werewolves, but it turns out they're also good for brewing beer.

Glastonbury has a pub called the Globe. Did it ever have a pub called the Sun?
