What happens to old topics?

Postby Ian Pegler » Thu Aug 02, 2007 7:33 pm

I've been searching for some old topics, e.g. "Church rattled by Da Vinci Code" which I remember writing, but I can't find them.

Do old topics disappear after a while?

What, you mean this thread?

That's really strange; I did a search for 'Church rattled by Da Vinci Code' and authour 'Ian Pegler', but it didn't turn up anything. Yet a manual browse through the 'general' section shows it on page 2 of the listings. I've played around with various search parameters and different combinations of search terms, but it still won't find it! Very odd. Perhaps a glitch in the search function of this new forum software?

But in answer to your question, most old topics are still there. I will delete a few of them from time to time, if they no longer seem relevant and are obviously 'dead'.

**edit - old and redundant topics do not get deleted straight away; first they get to serve a period in the recycle bin, which gives everyone a chance to rescue them if need be.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it - Terry Pratchett.

Thanks Grahame, I couldn't find it before.

I think the Search facility was slightly dodgy even before the software upgrade.
